Not a scroll

Image
My mom wanted a scroll.  She has always been my biggest fan.  I made her this for Christmas.

This is my favorite scroll I have done.  It was created for my dear friend Rhiannon the Innocent, who once talked her way into Hoity Toidy by sticking a glow stick in her hair and announcing she was an anglerfish. Words by Aislinn Chiabach Calligraphy by Violet Hughes

Emergency last minute scroll.  Not only did I have less than two days to complete it, it needed to be in French!  Thankfully help arrived. Words by Lord Martyn de Halliwell Translation By Kirsa Oyutai  AoA for Ragna Grimmolfsdottir.  Words by Slaine Baen Ronain  Silver Wheel for Justinius Alexander Eternus.  Words by Aislin Chiabach A silver brooch presented for the creation of lamp work paternosters.  I found a beautiful exemplar that featured paternosters in the same color as his.  Painting pearls is fun. Based on the Hours of Duke Adolph of Cleves, Manuscript W439 Fol 40r Words by Aislinn Chiabach  This scroll was for a dear lady I met while retaining for her highness at War.  The lady loves bunnies. That time I was awarded my own champion scroll. Calligraphy by Violet Hughes.

I started doing my own calligraphy after a while.  I learned to do a more or less passable Batarde hand.  These two backlogs came with words.  I honestly have no idea who wrote the words.

This was my very first live scroll. It was a silver mantle for a good friend, and member of my household. The silver mantle heraldry always makes me think of Dr. Strange.  My friend Travis is a huge fan of the Marvel universe, especially Dr. Strange, so I added the Eye of Agomoto to the scroll. My very first kingdom scroll was a backlog silver wheel for Seamus Mac Neachtain. I am honored to have been able to make a scroll for someone so beloved in the East Kingdom. Calligraphy by THL Violet Hughes

My first two scrolls were baronial champion scrolls.  I collaborated with two other ladies to create these in the fall of 2018.  Slaine baen Ronain did the word smithing.  Violet Hughes did the calligraphy.  These were a learning experience.  I have since learned to leave space for margins.

So, I paint stuff too...

In addition to brewing, I have taken up scribal arts in the past year.  I have worked on 7 live kingdom scrolls, 8 backlogs, and 5 baronial.  It occurred to me that I should publish my work somewhere.  Here it all is.
